Women’s Mental Health Initiative at Mental Health America of Greater Houston is training health professionals who encounter mothers and/or their children on how to screen for postpartum depression. Formed in June 2002 after the tragedy of Andrea Yates and her children, primarily educates women and their families, the public and others who interact with mothers about postpartum depression and similar mental illnesses. |

Criteria for Selection: |
The group which is comprised of professionals and students represents healthcare, mental health and women and child focused industries. As part of its outreach, the group is developing a postpartum depression screening toolkit to aid pediatricians and their staff in administering postpartum depression screenings. The toolkit also includes screening tools as well as campaign marketing tools aimed at mothers. |
