New funding opportunity
Robert Wood Johnson Foundation

August, 2016

Robert Wood Johnson Foundation

Advancing the science and practice of fostering healthy communities is the goal of a new $10 million grant opportunity jointly developed and funded by the Gulf Research Program and RWJF.

Residents in states along the Gulf of Mexico have faced persistent health and social disparities, high levels of chronic illness, and are especially vulnerable to climate change. And the risks are only escalating.

The grant program is designed to understand how coastal communities can adapt and thrive as they take on the challenges caused by environmental disasters, violence, chronic poverty, and other traumas.

Proposed projects should bring together ideas from researchers, practitioners and community members—from many different disciplines—to target the social determinants of health and build better community resilience.
