Statewide Flag Football Competition in San Antonio
Special Olympics Texas

Special Olympics Texas (SOTX) will host its annual Chapter Flag Football Competition Friday, Dec. 4 and Saturday, Dec. 5 at STAR Soccer Complex (5103 David Edward Dr.) in San Antonio. Competition will run from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Friday and from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The event is free and open to the public.


The Championship field features 209 SOTX athletes, 17 Unified Partners and more than 150 coaches and volunteers from around the state. This is one of six annual state championship events held by SOTX.


Twenty-three teams will compete in various divisions, which are categorized by age and ability. The brackets include “traditional” teams comprised of all SOTX athletes and Unified teams consisting of athletes with intellectual disabilities and teammates without disabilities. The athletes qualifying for this year’s Flag Football championships range in age from 12 to 58 years old.


Five of the 23 teams come from the surrounding San Antonio area, including Texas Foundation of Hope, All American All-Stars, Judson Thunder, San Antonio Fire and the Southwest School Dragons.
