San Antonio Fire Truck to be Pulled for SOTX Proceeds on Oct. 3

Here’s your chance to achieve a feat of strength with your hardest-working muscle; your heart. Sign up for the Special Olympics Texas (SOTX) Fire Truck Pull at the San Antonio Fire Training Academy (300 S Callaghan Rd., San Antonio, TX 7823) on Saturday, Oct. 3 and get ready to raise funds for more than 9,300 athletes with intellectual disabilities in the San Antonio area.


The challenge requires teams of 12 friends, family members and colleagues to put their biceps to the test and work together to pull an actual 55,000-pound fire truck for 75 feet.


The Fire Truck Pull, a Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) fundraiser, is open to the public.

Check-in and walk-up registration begins at 8:00 a.m. The first pull is slated for 9:15 a.m. following the Opening Ceremony. 


The event wraps up with an awards ceremony for the Fastest Team Pull and Most Money Raised by a Team.  

The entry fee is $480 per team
 of 12 or $40 per person. If there are fewer than 12 on a team, please indicate so that “fill-ins” can be found.

About the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR)

The Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) is Special Olympics' largest grass-roots fundraiser and public awareness vehicle.  In Texas, the Law Enforcement Torch Run began in 1985 and had grown to become one of the largest in the nation.  In the last decade, Torch Run has contributed over $11 million through the dedication of thousands of law enforcement personnel fundraising on behalf of SOTX.  The support provided by this dedicated group has contributed greatly to programs in local communities, which involve more than 53,400 athletes with intellectual disabilities throughout the state.
