Glynn Bloomquist Selected to Lutheran SocialServices Board
Lutheran Social Services of the South

September, 2013

Lutheran Social Services of the South (LSS) today announced the addition of Glynn Bloomquist of Austin, TX, as the newest member of their Board of Directors.

LSS, headquartered in Austin, TX, provides foster care and adoption services through the agency’s 15 offices throughout Texas, and operates two children’s residential treatment centers, one emergency refugee children’s shelter, five senior living communities, emergency assistance in the Lubbock area, and help and support for hurricane and disaster victims.

Bloomquist is the former president and CEO of Current Solutions LLC, a leading provider of pain management products in the U.S. and Canada. Bloomquist served on the Current Solutions board of directors and was the majority owner of the company. Current Solutions was acquired by Roscoe Medical in 2012.

Prior to Bloomquist’s leadership at Current Solutions, he was president and CEO of Tejas Global Resources, an international provider of management services in Austin. Additionally, Bloomquist held this position until he left to lead the acquisition of Koalaty Products, Inc. (KPI) in 2009, and relocated the company from Tampa, Florida, to its present headquarters and warehouse operations in Austin, Texas.

Among Bloomquist’s many honors, in 2002 he was recognized with the “Distinguished Alumni Award” from Texas Lutheran University, and in 2005 he was inducted into the Texas Lutheran University Athletic “Wall of Honor.”  Bloomquist currently serves as the secretary to the Texas Lutheran University Board of Regents.

“Glynn Bloomquist brings an extensive background and wealth of experience to the LSS board,” said Dr. Kurt Senske, chief executive officer of LSS. “We are very fortunate to have someone of his caliber joining us and look forward to working with him during a very exciting time for the agency.”

Selection for the LSS board of directors is based on demonstrated interest, expertise, and involvement in serving LSS through its social ministries, and carrying out its mission of providing help, healing, and hope to those in need, regardless of religious beliefs, ethnicity, gender, or age.

Lutheran Social Services of the South (LSS) is a nonprofit organization serving more than 26,000 children, elderly, and poor in Texas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma annually. LSS is the largest provider of children’s residential care in Texas. LSS programs include Foster In Texas (FIT)Lutheran Adoption Services of Texas (LAST), three children’s residential facilities in Texas, plus charter school services, senior retirement communities, disaster response, and emergency assistance.
