"Generational Differences in the Nonprofit World"

For the first time in U.S. history, there are four generations working side by side in the workplace. For most nonprofits, this is a good thing. The executive director may be in his/her thirties managing a staff of seniors, mid-lifers and twenty-somethings. Different people bring different perspectives and needs to the workplace. The diverse perspectives, motivations, attitudes and needs of these four generations have changed the dynamics of the workplace. A little insight into the differences among the generations can help you better understand the needs and expectations of your colleagues in an age-diverse workforce.

Whether you are recruiting volunteers or trying to keep your workforce engaged, this workshop will help you to:

  • Identify the four generations in the work place
  • Understand and gain insight into each generation
  • Understand the unique needs of each generation
  • Understand the behavioral tendencies of each generations

Who should attend this workshop: Executive directors, managers, board of directors, and professional staff

What you will learn:

  • How to lead change effectively through proven coaching and Socratic methods;
  • Tools to ensure your peers and staff feel safe and empowered in the midst of change
  • How to “manage upward,” create “buy-in” for initiatives, and communicate individual and department concerns.
  • How our brains are wired and why they are resistant to change
  • Steps to achieve compliance, entrepreneurial spirit, and teamwork toward your goals

Who should attend:

  • Executive directors and senior management
  • Managers and staff
