George Decorates for the Modern
George, a resident of Samaritan House and professional scene and event designer, was the designer for the May 8 Docents' Luncheon, hosted by the Fort Worth Museum of Modern Art at the Fort Worth Club. The challenge of this assignment was in providing contemporary décor for a traditional setting. Modern staff reported compliments from attending docents for the lovely green flower arrangements in blown glass vases. Anyone who has attended Samaritan House events will remember the originality and beauty of George's designs.
Talented Volunteer
DeAnna Golson
DeAnna Golsan is giving a boost to the Sam House literacy program by volunteering as a tutor. Residents are enjoying working with her. Deanna graduated from TCU in May as a religion major and will enter Brite Divinity School in August. She will also be assisting in managing our administrative database.
| Summer Intern
Hanna Useem
Hanna Useem, a May graduate of TCU with a major in Political Science/International Relations and a minor in Spanish, will assist in the administrative offices this summer, with projects ranging from public relations planning to event organization. She plans to apply to the Peace Corps in the fall.
Touring Samaritan House
July SamariTours are scheduled for 5:30 on the evening of the 13th and 11:45 a.m. on the 29th. These one-hour information sessions include life stories told by residents, a tour of the facilities, and an opportunity to ask questions about the agency's programs. Lunch is provided on the 29th, catered by Z's Café. Visitors are often surprised to hear about positive life changes made possible by Samaritan House. | "I was drawn to Samaritan House because I have a soft spot for the underdog," says Board Chair Jim Johnson. "I've had trials in my own life and have seen the difficulties some of my close friends and relatives have had. That's given me empathy for people who face large challenges."

| | Each year Samaritan House residents look forward to having a chance to give back to a group of people who have made a tremendous difference in the quality of their lives: members of the Samaritan House Supper Clubs. On the evening of August 12, residents will turn the tables on these generous supporters, serving them at the annual Supper Club Appreciation Dinner. | LifeGate Block Party Rocks

Events such as the LifeGate Block Party provide much-needed entertainment for families on limited budgets and help promote the close-knit community atmosphere that makes Samaritan House a model for low-income housing.
