Stimulus money awarded
Around Texas

July, 2009

U.S. Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan awarded $86,278,708 in grants to the State of Texas and 23 Texas cities and counties.

Wichita Falls received $583,425 of those grants to rapidly re-house families who fall into homelessness, or prevent them from becoming homeless as a part of HUD’s new Homeless Prevention and Rapid Re-housing Program (HPRP).

Fort Worth, Arlington and several other Tarrant County cities are getting some spending money — about $3.4 million total — courtesy of taxpayer dollars handed out by the U.S. Housing and Urban Development Department.

Brownsville will receive more than $1.3 million in federal assistance for homeless families and homelessness prevention, U.S. Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan announced.
